Until Next Time EspaƱa

And so it came, my very last day in Spain. Half of which was spent completely exhausted and slightly hungover from the most epic night of my life and the other half trying to celebrate my last night with Elizabeth after such an amazing adventure together.

After a minor break down due to my debit card being eaten by a foreign ATM we found a cute little Peruvian restaurant for dinner and shared a delicious bottle of wine.

After dinner we took one last stroll around Madrid, stopped for one last scoop of Gelato, and took one last photo...
What a lovely trip! From start to finish I was completely blown away the history, culture, and mouthwatering food throughout Spain and Portugal. I can't wait to start planning my next big adventure. Where will my frolicking take me in 2013!?

Portuguese Beaches

After a morning full of castles Elizabeth and I ventured to a small beach town on the coast to soak up some rays and stare out into the endless Atlantic Ocean. The beach was far from crowded but absolutely gorgeous none the less.

Portugal: The Land of Jokesters

Out of all the places we visited during our two week adventure I probably knew the least about Portugal. Well my friends it turns out that Portugal is a magnificent place with a rich history, unique castles, delicious local foods (especially cod!), extremely helpful/welcoming people, and of course jokesters. In fact I believe Portugal actually means Land of Jokesters in Portuguese (...Scholars maintain that the translation was lost hundreds of years ago), ha!

But in all seriousness Portugal was probably my favorite part of the trip; Lisbon is a relatively calm city similar to San Fransisco with it's hilly landscapes, trolley cars and red bridge! The elegant buildings sit along a hilly coast line, perfectly contrasting with the cloudless blue skies. Plus, when you only know one word in the native language (obrigado - thank you) everything automatically becomes more exotic ;)

Man if I thought I was in-love with Madrid, I don't even know what to call my fascination with Portugal! This is certainly not my last trip to this amazing country.
